Wedding Planning During COVID-19
Not only did we have to change our wedding date, but we’ve also had to make some minor adjustments for our big day coming up in September to keep all of our guests safe, due to the impending doom surrounding us….kidding. But let’s keep it clean and fun people.
Here are a few of the new safety precautions we’ve taken to help make the day a success.
By now, we’re all washing our hands 300 times per day but you can never be too careful.
The venue has placed hand sanitizing stations around the property but we’ve purchased some extras to place on tables and spread out as well.
We bought this pack of 24 personal sized bottles off of Amazon and Andy is bedazzling them to give them some character. This was actually all his idea!
My mom has been making masks like crazy throughout this whole thing. She is making a bunch for our wedding party and extras for guests if they need them since they will be mandatory at our event.
I also picked up this cute beaded mask lanyard to accessorize my mask when I will have to wear one myself.
This is not an accessory I wanted to be rocking on my wedding day but I’m making the most of it.
Social Distancing Bracelets
I got this idea from another wedding planner. I’ve seen other couples do this recently but everyone is just buying bracelets. I’m making friendship bracelets for everyone!
The idea is that everyone wears the color bracelet that signifies what level of social distancing they are comfortable with.
For ours it will be like this:
Pink = keep your distance
Yellow = we can chat but please no touching
Green = okay with handshakes and hugs
This is the pack of string that I got to make the bracelets.
Spacing and Seating
Luckily our venue is mostly outdoors which will come in handy with having to spread people out. They will be arranging the ceremony chairs a bit further apart and we’ll have 6 people seated at each table for dinner now, instead of the traditional 8.
Thankfully I already have enough table numbers to accommodate the adjustment! These are the ones I purchased from Etsy.
Streaming for Guests that Can’t Make It
I had been against having any kind of the “Zoom wedding” but I’ve warmed up to the idea. We have some very very important people that can’t be there for various reasons but we’d love to have them join our special day in any way possible.
I picked up a tripod and we’re going to use an iPad with Zoom set up so that those people that can’t make it will be able to see us say “I Do”.
If you happen to be reading this and you are trying to navigate planning your own wedding right now, I feel for you! Go with your gut and make decisions based on what is best for you and your partner. Don’t lose sight of the big picture and remember that it’s okay to have a few bad days.
Trust your vendors. They are likely going through some tough times and have been helping other couples figure this out since it all started.
We’ve made some hard decisions and things aren’t going exactly how we pictured but we’re so excited to still be able to have a day to celebrate our love and dedication to one another. If you want to reach out, even if we don’t know each other, I’d be happy to help you talk through whatever is going through your mind.
If you are joining our big day in a few weeks, we can’t wait to see you! Let’s have some fun and make sure to wear your mask.
